- Product Description
- CampbellON is Campbell Scientific's cloud platform for programming, monitoring and visualizing environmental monitoring networks. Customers use it in a web browser to manage stations, dataloggers and sensors, view and explore measurement data, build dashboards, configure alerts and data exports, and administer their organization's users and subscriptions.
- Contact Information
- Campbell Scientific, Inc., 815 West 1800 North, Logan, Utah 84321-1784, USA. To report an accessibility problem or ask a question about this report, contact Campbell Scientific.
Notes
This report covers the CampbellON web application: the signed-in application (every module available to customer organizations), the sign-in, registration and password-reset pages, dashboards shared through public links, and the in-app Help Center.
It does not cover Campbell Scientific dataloggers, sensors and their on-device interfaces; desktop software such as LoggerNet; the CampbellON marketing website and API reference; email notifications; internal tools used only by Campbell Scientific staff; content that customers create, such as dashboard titles, uploaded images and station names; or features that are not yet generally available to customers.
CampbellON is updated continuously. Campbell Scientific tracks the issues described in this report for remediation and will update the report as the product changes.
This report reflects accessibility fixes made after the original evaluation, including authoring prompts for images and theme colors and longer-lived shared-dashboard sessions.
This International Edition covers WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 Levels A and AA, the Revised Section 508 standards, and EN 301 549 V3.1.1 and V3.2.1.
Section 508 incorporates WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA, and EN 301 549 V3.2.1 references WCAG 2.1. The criteria that are new in WCAG 2.2 (2.4.11, 2.5.7, 2.5.8, 3.2.6, 3.3.7 and 3.3.8) are therefore not EN 301 549 or Section 508 requirements, and are reported for WCAG 2.2 only.
CampbellON is web content and also an authoring tool: its dashboard editor creates dashboards that other members of an organization view, and that anyone can view through a public share link.
The Electronic Docs responses in the WCAG 2.x Report cover the alert report PDFs that CampbellON generates.
Evaluation Methods Used
Campbell Scientific evaluated CampbellON against WCAG 2.2 Levels A and AA in September 2026. The evaluation combined the following methods:
- Automated testing with axe-core 4.13 (WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 Level A and AA rules) in desktop Chromium on 57 application screens, 19 dialogs and 4 sign-in pages (sign in, password reset, registration and authenticator app setup).
- Scripted keyboard testing on the same screens: Tab order, a visible focus indicator at each stop, focused elements hidden by other content, keyboard traps, and closing dialogs with the Escape key.
- Reflow testing at a viewport 320 CSS pixels wide, equivalent to 400% zoom.
- Contrast measurement of text and interface colors in the light and dark themes, including labels drawn inside charts.
- A review of the application’s source code (page templates, styles and interaction logic) against every success criterion, including the shared-dashboard viewer and the sign-in pages. Each finding was checked a second time by an independent reviewer who tried to disprove it.
Testing with screen readers (such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack) and on mobile devices has not yet been performed. Where a result depends on how assistive technology announces content, the remark is based on the code and the automated results.
After the original evaluation, the findings were re-checked in September 2026 against a build that includes the latest accessibility fixes. Each criterion proposed to move to Supports was checked again by a second reviewer who tried to disprove it. The text spacing test for success criterion 1.4.12 was run in the browser at desktop and phone widths, and text resizing for success criterion 1.4.4 was tested at 200% with the Zoom Text Only setting in Firefox. The other automated scans and scripted keyboard tests described above were run during the original evaluation and were not repeated. The Revised Section 508 and EN 301 549 responses in this International Edition were derived from the WCAG results and from a review of the application source code for their additional requirements (authoring features, generated documents, user preferences and platform features), and each was checked by a second reviewer.

Table 3: Success Criteria, Level AAA
Notes: Level AAA success criteria were not evaluated for this report.
Revised Section 508 Report
Notes: Section 508 references WCAG 2.0 Level A and AA; WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 criteria are reported for information but are not Section 508 requirements. Chapter 4 (Hardware) has been removed because it does not apply to a web application.
Chapter 3: Functional Performance Criteria (FPC)
Notes: Derived from the WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA results in this report. Screen reader testing has not been performed, so results that depend on assistive technology are based on code review and automated testing.
| Criteria | Conformance Level | Remarks and Explanations |
|---|---|---|
| 302.1 Without Vision | Partially Supports |
Pages use headings, landmarks and labeled controls, but screen reader testing has not been done. Known gaps include pointer-only functions (2.1.1), a control not exposed as a link (4.1.2) and unannounced "no matches" messages (4.1.3). |
| 302.2 With Limited Vision | Supports |
Pages can be enlarged to 200% for viewing with browser page zoom and reflow at 320 CSS pixels, light and dark themes are available, and the whole product, including the dashboard editor, can be used with screen magnifiers. A few items fall short of individual criteria and are reported under 1.4.3, 1.4.4, 1.4.10 and 1.4.11. |
| 302.3 Without Perception of Color | Supports |
Information conveyed by color is also available without color: station communication status and alert states appear as text in station and alert lists and detail pages, chart series can be isolated with the legend and are named in tooltips and text summaries, and a color-blind safe palette is available. Some views, such as the station map, alert badges and status dots, use color alone; see 1.4.1. |
| 302.4 Without Hearing | Not Applicable |
The product has no audible mode of operation and does not play audio. |
| 302.5 With Limited Hearing | Not Applicable |
The product has no audible mode of operation and does not play audio. |
| 302.6 Without Speech | Not Applicable |
The product does not use speech for input, control or operation. |
| 302.7 With Limited Manipulation | Partially Supports |
Most functions work from the keyboard and no function needs multipoint gestures. Some functions still need a pointer or dragging (2.1.1), and some resize handles are smaller than 24 by 24 pixels (2.5.7 and 2.5.8, WCAG 2.2 criteria reported for information). |
| 302.8 With Limited Reach and Strength | Supports |
The product runs on the user's own computer and input devices and needs no physical reach or force. |
| 302.9 With Limited Language, Cognitive, and Learning Abilities | Supports |
The product provides features that make it simpler to use: consistent navigation and help, an in-app Help Center, idle-session warnings with extension, sign-in without a cognitive test, and inline form validation. Some error messages still fall short; see 3.3.1 and 3.3.3. |
Chapter 4: Hardware
Notes: Chapter 4 has been removed because CampbellON is a web application and includes no hardware.
Chapter 5: Software
Notes: CampbellON is a web application, so 502 (Interoperability with Assistive Technology) and 503.3 do not apply; the browser provides platform accessibility services. 503.2 User Preferences exempts web applications, but its remark lists the system and browser settings that CampbellON follows. CampbellON is treated as an authoring tool in 504 because its dashboard editor creates web content that other users, and anonymous viewers of public share links, view.

EN 301 549 Report
Notes: EN 301 549 V3.1.1 and V3.2.1 reference WCAG 2.1, so the WCAG 2.2-only criteria (2.4.11, 2.5.7, 2.5.8, 3.2.6, 3.3.7 and 3.3.8) are not EN 301 549 requirements, while 4.1.1 Parsing, removed in WCAG 2.2, still applies to EN 301 549 and Section 508 and is reported as Supports. Clauses 6, 7, 8 and 13 have been removed because they do not apply to a web application.
Clause 4: Functional Performance Statements (FPS)
Notes: Derived from the WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA results in this report. Screen reader testing has not been performed, so results that depend on assistive technology are based on code review and automated testing. EN 301 549 V3.2.1 references WCAG 2.1; WCAG 2.2-only findings are cited only as functional evidence.
| Criteria | Conformance Level | Remarks and Explanations |
|---|---|---|
| 4.2.1 Usage without vision | Partially Supports |
